April 10-16, 2022

Do you ever wonder who the person is behind the emergency calls to 9-1-1? All we know about them is their calming demeanor and voice, which is why National Public Safety Telecommunications Week (NPSTW) is observed every second week in April. It is a week set aside to recognize and celebrate the telecommunicators helping to save lives every day. If it were not for the telecommunicators flawlessly doing their jobs, lives would have been lost due to untimely assistance.

NPSTW gives communities the opportunity to thank 9-1-1 call takers, dispatchers, technicians that maintain radio and emergency phone systems, communications staff trainers, supervisors and managers of communications centers, and other telecommunications staff across the country who work hard every day to serve the public.

This year’s theme is Headset Heroes.
