The conference is co-sponsored by the Cities IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), part of the United Nations Environment Programme (UN Environment) and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO).
The conference will welcome more than 800 municipal representatives, scientists and academics from around the world to share the latest scientific research on climate change, and will inspire global and regional action within cities to address this complex issue.
The idea for a conference focusing on cities and climate change was born at COP22 (United Nations Climate Change Conference), which was attended by Mayor Don Iveson in 2016.
The call for sessions proposals is now closed. Sessions submitted will be reviewed by the Scientific Steering Committee in the coming weeks. The outcome of the process will be communicated to those that have submitted sessions by December 1, 2017.
