Socks

Socks must be worn in the Teglar Discovery Zone. Bare feet and shoes/sandals are not permitted. If you arrive at the nature centre without socks, you may purchase them here.

Naturally Edmonton Annual Membership

The Naturally Edmonton annual Membership is on sale at City of Edmonton attractions and recreation centres. It includes year-round access to the Edmonton Valley Zoo, Muttart Conservatory and John Janzen Nature Centre, plus one all-facility recreation centre admission that can be redeemed for one-time use at any City of Edmonton recreation centre.

*Family Admission: All members of the same household related by birth, legal status or marriage up to a maximum of seven people.

Annual passes can only be purchased in person and require a photo ID from everyone 18 years of age and older.

Naturally Edmonton pass members receive unlimited admission during regular public hours for a full year from date of purchase.

Admission includes:

  • The Edmonton Valley Zoo's Get Closer: Animal Talks, and use of the zoo's Miniature Train and the Carousel rides.
  • The Muttart Conservatory's Tours and Drop-in Programs
  • The John Janzen Nature Centre's Drop-in Programs

Additional benefits include:

  • One all-facility recreation centre admission that can be redeemed for one-time use at any City of Edmonton recreation centre.
  • A 10 per cent  discount in the Zootique gift shop. The Zootique is run by the Valley Zoo Development Society, which is a registered charity with a mandate to raise funds and awareness for the Edmonton Valley Zoo. Discount does not apply to original artwork.
  • A 15 per cent discount on regular price gift shop purchases at the Muttart Conservatory and John Janzen Nature Centre.
  • Free or discounted admission at participating zoos across Canada and the United States (with a valid Edmonton Valley Zoo expiry date sticker on the back of your membership card).
  • Free or discounted admission to more than 150 botanic gardens across North America at participating Horticultural Sites (with a valid Muttart Conservatory expiry date sticker on the back of your membership card).
  • Exclusive access to purchase tickets to special events at the Muttart Conservatory

Transit

Taking transit to the John Janzen Nature Centre is a cost-effective mode of transportation. In addition to regular Transit service*, a direct shuttle is available during the spring and summer. The shuttle travels on an hourly schedule between South Campus/Fort Edmonton Park Transit Centre and the Valley Zoo.

*Please note: The main building is an approximate 5 minute walk from the closest bus stops.

Driving Directions

We are located at 7000 143 Street. Access is via Fox Drive, just east of the Whitemud.

The John Janzen Nature Centre shares a parking lot with Fort Edmonton Park.
