A total of eight City of Edmonton cemeteries are being rehabilitated and/or undergoing expansion in 2021. The work being done varies depending on the needs of each facility and may include updating concrete paths, mechanical systems, exterior finishes and creating more burial options.

Edmonton Cemetery
Scope of work
Start of construction anticipated spring 2021. Once work begins, there may be some restricted access to the Mausoleum.
- Addressing lifecycle maintenance issues for the Mausoleum.
- Replacing weeping tile system around the building, connecting to the municipal stormwater system and regrading land around the building
- Exterior building repairs
Northern Lights Cemetery
Scope of work
Start of construction anticipated summer 2021.
- Adding new interior roads / walking paths
- Adding new casket and cremation burial options, including natural (green) burials
- Adding more burial sections to accommodate growth
- Adding a family memorial section for family cremation monuments
- Enhancing the existing military section with a feature wall and additional columbaria
- Planting trees along the new roads
South Haven Cemetery
Scope of work
Start of Construction anticipated summer 2021.
- Adding a new service entrance and interior roads at the northside
- Planting trees along new roads
Cemeteries Renewal
Scope of work
Start of construction anticipated for spring 2021.
Beechmount Cemetery
- Partial road reconstruction
- Removing existing grade beams and installing new grade beams
- Replacing existing water lines
Northern Lights Cemetery
- Replacing uni-stone area surrounding Spruce Columbaria and replacing with colored concrete
Little Mountain Cemetery
- Replacing uni-stone area surrounding Columbaria area and replacing with colored concrete
South Haven Cemetery
- Replacing uni-stone area surrounding Columbaria area and replacing with colored concrete
