Our Guided Planting Shifts can help your group meet its environmental and community service targets while having a fun day in nature!
- A Program Leader who will provide your group with a planting demonstration, safety talk, and interesting facts about Edmonton's urban forest
- Native tree and shrub seedlings
- Planting shovels and gloves
Before Registering for a Guided Shift
The person booking the planting shift must gather the following information:
Expected Group Size Volunteer Information
All volunteer names are required at the time of booking. A minimum group size of 10 is required to participate. A maximum of 100 people can be accommodated.
Based on availability.
You select the city quadrant (NE, NW, SE, or SW) in which you would like to plant and we assign the specific planting site. Planting sites are assigned by Root for Trees based on program needs.

When booking a volunteer planting shift, select your preferred planting location by quadrant from this interactive map. The specific planting location (within your preferred quadrant) will be confirmed by Root for Trees.
The Day of Your Volunteer Shift
All the supplies will be ready on site. Please wear comfortable clothing, close-toed shoes and plan according to the weather.
Guided planting shifts are scheduled for two and a half hours. Please inquire with the Program Supervisor if you are interested in extending a shift.
