The City recognizes the importance of the local economy and is constantly looking for new and innovative ways to support its growth.
Shop Local Deals
Are you a local business owner? As part of our Shop Local campaign, we’re hosting a Shop Local Deals directory where Edmontonians can find discounts to local businesses. The directory will offer Edmontonians the opportunity to benefit from shopping locally while driving more business to our local entrepreneurs. Submit your deal any time from now until December 2025.

Ideas to Help People Shop Local
There are many ways to encourage customers to shop locally:
Create incentives using social media
Provide details on parking, bike locks and transit to help customers find you
Create a business gift guide
Offer curbside pickup and online ordering
For service-oriented businesses, create an experience package or bundles
Benefits of Shopping Locally
Shopping local is easy as Edmonton is home to over 38,000 businesses, with 95% being small businesses. It’s also a key part of community building since for every $100 spent at a small business, $66 stays in the local economy.
Spending money at a local business is just one way to support our entrepreneurs. Other ways to show support include sharing content and engaging on social media, leaving a positive review and recommending stores to family and friends.
