The City of Edmonton Indigenous Relations Office (IRO) supports National Indigenous History Month in Edmonton by promoting the Indigenous events and activities  happening in and around Edmonton throughout the month of June.

Throughout June 2020, many organizations, agencies and communities will host a variety of events that strengthen the community through learning, understanding and celebration of Indigenous histories, heritage, diversity, cultures and people.

National Indigenous History Month overlaps with many key events in Edmonton including:

Get Involved

The IRO will create event posters and communication materials that will be promoted through our various channels (website, social media, email) — and you will be encouraged to promote the events through your own communication networks!  By working together to promote one another’s events, we can maximize our impact.

We require the event name, date, time, location, a short description and any other important details (such as cost, parking info, ages).

Submit your Indigenous Event/Activity

Final deadline to submit events is April 15, 2020.

Help Support Reconciliation in Education

Edmonton Schools are seeking educational and cultural experiences for their students and their staff.  If your event can accommodate a classroom opportunity or professional development for teachers, we encourage you to submit your event details by February 21, 2020 — this will allow sufficient time for schools to obtain parental and principal permissions.
