Your property tax bill consists of two major elements—municipal and education property taxes—and may also include local improvement charges and community revitalization levy allocation, if applicable.

The City sends out property tax notices in late May every year and asks property owners to submit payments by the due date of June 30 to avoid late-payment penalties.

Municipal taxes help pay for police and fire protection, parks, roads and other infrastructure.
A certain amount the City collects goes directly to the Government of Alberta to fund education.
Some property owners pay local improvement charges for projects that benefit their neighbourhoods.
Property taxes in a CRL area fund improvement projects in that area.
