Since 1995, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) has operated the annual ETS Stuff a Bus campaign with its partners to help people who rely on the food bank during the holiday season. Each year, in late November or early December, buses visit Edmonton Save-On-Foods locations, where volunteers collect non-perishable food and cash donations for Edmonton's Food Bank.

This year’s ETS Stuff a Bus runs from November 25-29. Due to a recent increase in COVID-19 cases, and to minimize any person to person contact, in-person donation options on buses, LRT and cruisers are cancelled for this year’s campaign. However, the need to give is not cancelled and there is still significant support the Edmonton’s Food Bank this holiday season.

This year, there are multiple ways to provide monetary donations, including:

  • Donating $2, $5, $10 or more at the checkout counter at Save-On-Foods
  • Donating online via Edmonton’s Food Bank website and selecting ETS Stuff a Bus under “Fund” (minimum of $3 for online donations)
  • Texting FEEDYEG to 20222 to donate $10 or $20

A $2.62 contribution can provide one meal to one person, which can be covered by one online donation.

If you still prefer to donate non-perishable food items, please place them in the bins for Edmonton’s Food Bank at any Save-On-Foods location. High demand items for Edmonton’s Food Bank include:

  • Pasta/pasta sauce
  • Canned soups
  • Canned fruits and vegetables
  • Canned fish and meat
  • Baby formula
  • School snacks
  • Small peanut butter jars

In 2019, nearly 25 thousand kilograms of non-perishable food and close to $20,000 in cash were collected from participating Save-On-Foods, transit centres and on the LRT.

ETS Stuff a Bus has collected over 520,000 kilograms of food and $480,000 in cash donations since inception to help feed Edmontonians in need. This campaign also supports the Strathcona Food Bank (with Strathcona County Transit) and Parkland Food Bank.

ETS thanks all of its partners and the Edmonton community for their generosity in helping drive out hunger.
