Located in west Edmonton, Fred Broadstock pool offers a safe and family-friendly environment and some awesome amenities.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities including public swim, lane swim and learn to swim programs.

Closures of outdoor pools are determined by temperature (below 18° Celsius), air quality (monitored by 4 stations across the City), extreme weather (stormy, heavy rain, lightning or thunder) and bookings.

Booking and Cancellation

Booking Information

To request a booking and for more information, email aquaticbookings@edmonton.ca

  • Available rental times can be limited and we require 16 days notice to book to ensure staffing. Shorter notice requests require staffing confirmation in order to be completed. Please keep this in mind when attempting to book your space.
  • If you are looking to book your event during public swim you can book "ahead of the line" bookings with the Aquatic Reservation Program.
  • Facility closure for public swim during the day does not affect the rental times. 
  • Fred Broadstock Outdoor Pool has limited accessibility - no wheelchair accessible washrooms or changerooms
  • The lifeguard ratio is 40-1.  Extra lifeguards are an additional $49 an hour
  • Appropriate swim attire is required for all rentals.
  • Most pool toys are permitted; however, items that are hazardous or excessively large may be restricted if they interfere with effective lifeguarding. Mono fins, such as mermaid tails, are not allowed.

Cancellations

Rentals will be only cancelled in the case of severe weather conditions in the area, such as thunderstorms or if it is raining so hard that the lifeguards cannot see the bottom of the pool.

Your booking facility will contact you if your rental is affected (only if your booking is cancelled)

Guidelines

In addition to City of Edmonton Recreation facility guidelines, these additional guidelines must be followed to keep the facility clean and open.

Pool Guidelines
  • Do not swim if you have been sick in the last 2 weeks or have open wounds
  • Wear proper swim attire: Swim diapers for toddlers and babies
  • Swimwear with a liner made for the purpose of swimming
  • No athletic shorts or underwear is allowed in the water
  • Have a head-to-toe soaking shower before entering the water. This helps remove contaminants you may bring into the water including soap, lotion, sunscreen and laundry detergent
  • Rinse off as much of the soap as possible when having a shower
  • Use only phosphate free sunscreen
  • Glass containers are not permitted
  • Pets are not permitted
  • Food and street shoes are not permitted near the water
  • Please tell a staff member if you think you or your child may have accidentally contaminated the water
  • Throw your garbage in the trash to help keep the facility clean and pest-free
  • Customers may bring in unopened, factory sealed beverages only. Opened or unsealed beverages are not allowed in to the facility and customers will be asked to dump out any unsealed beverages. Exceptions can be made for customers who are feeding infants onsite, or for customers with medical needs. Water coolers are available to fill water bottles
  • Alcoholic beverages are not allowed
  • Customers may bring in their own food
Food and Beverage Guidelines

Patrons may bring in unopened, factory-sealed beverages only. Opened or unsealed beverages are not allowed into the facility and customers will be asked to dump out any unsealed beverages (including coffee mugs). Exceptions can be made for customers who are feeding infants onsite, or for customers with medical needs.

  • Water fill stations are available to fill water bottles
