During engagement, we learned that construction of the park located on 107 Avenue and 105 Street was a priority for residents, businesses and visitors to the area. The project team worked to adjust the project scope and secured funding to incorporate the construction of the park into the overall revitalization plan, which is anticipated to begin in 2024.
Streetscape construction is anticipated to begin in August 2024, and will include:
107 Avenue is a significant commercial roadway intersecting several communities in Edmonton. The Central MacDougall/Queen Mary Park segment of 107 Avenue is described by some within the community as where the world meets in Edmonton.
107 Avenue acts as a main street in the area, populated by businesses, services and multi-unit residences. The area is rich in character, welcoming generations of newcomers to Edmonton and provides the community with a strong cross-cultural influence.
Improvements to 107 Avenue were identified through the Neighbourhood Revitalization Program. A comprehensive Urban Design Analysis for the communities was completed and shared with Edmontonians in February 2017. Following extensive consultation with a variety of community stakeholders, this analysis suggested improvements that would support the overarching goals of the program which include:
The project area is from 101 Street to 122 Street within Queen Mary Park (west of 109 Street) and Central McDougall (east of 109 Street).
Comprehensive engagement was undertaken to understand opportunities and issues and to learn what residents, stakeholders and the public think about location, design and other critical elements for the four initiatives.
We would like to thank everyone who took the time to share their ideas and perspectives.

A stakeholder advisory group, made up of neighbourhood residents as well as representatives from area businesses, groups and organizations was formed and were active participants for all phases of the project. The 107 Avenue Stakeholder and City Alliance Group provided local knowledge, offered design considerations and shared ideas on the best way to engage with the community. We would like to thank them for their involvement and commitment to the project.
We thank those who shared their ideas and perspectives throughout the planning and design phase of the project. Your feedback has been considered, and where possible, included in the final design. Construction is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2024.
Engagement was held through the summer and fall of 2022 and generated valuable insight from the community and stakeholders. Ideas and perspectives that were offered during the engagement phase were considered during the development of the preliminary design. The detailed design is expected in early 2023.
During the concept design phase, we learned that the park at the corner of 107 Avenue and 105 Street was a priority for the community. As a result, the park will now be fully developed for the community to enjoy as a gathering and event space. In addition to designing the park space, the preliminary design phase provides a more detailed design for the overall project.
Watch this space for the approved Preliminary Design plan.
What We Heard Report - September 2022
Feedback from our public and stakeholder engagement meetings was taken into consideration when creating our draft concept plan for the 107 Avenue Revitalization project.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our online engagement activities in December.
Your input will be considered alongside City plans and policies as we finalize the concept plan.
Public and stakeholder engagement took place between June and August 2021. We heard hundreds of ideas from community members, area residents, businesses and community groups. See the What We Heard Report.
The top priorities for the project include lighting, greening, seating and colourful elements.
Thank you for joining the Virtual Ideas Workshops on June 23 and 26. Participants were provided an overview of the project and ideas for the streetscape opportunities, alley pilot, gateway features and the art park for their feedback.
Input received at the events and the online survey will help shape the design for each element. Further public opportunities to view the designs and share feedback will be available later this year.
