On March 5, 2024, Urban Planning Committee approved the 2024-25 Edmonton Design Committee work plan, which includes reviewing the EDC Standards and Procedures, the EDC Principles of Urban Design, and the scope of EDC review.
Industry previously identified the need to review both the current Principles of Urban Design and the scope of EDC review (as defined in EDC Bylaw 20673). The 2024-25 work plan therefore focuses on these items while delivering on the Committee’s commitment to review and update the EDC Standards and Procedures, which came into effect on February 15, 2022.
We are currently engaging with the design, building and development industry from May 13 to June 21, 2024, when City administration and the EDC will begin preparing draft documents for review. We anticipate sharing these draft deliverables in early fall 2024 with the goal of completing this work by the end of the 2024-25 EDC term, which concludes on April 30, 2025.
How can you get involved?
If you are in the design, building and development industry, we want to hear from you.
From May 13 to June 21, 2024, we are inviting designers, builders and developers to connect with us in two ways:
- By completing an online survey (which runs from May 13 to June 21, 2024)
- By taking part in a one-on-interview (scheduled from May 22 to May 31, 2024) OR small group conversation (scheduled from June 5-14, 2024)
