This June, we asked people what it is like to move around on the streets. We were looking for feedback on the safety of your streets: how they feel, function, and how they work for you.
Over 1800 people completed the online survey, and over 650 pins were added to the map at engaged.edmonton.ca/safestreets between June 8 to 23. The map will be available until September 23.
The Safe Mobility Strategy project team is now reviewing the data collected from the map and survey. Your feedback will help us find traffic risks that the data doesn’t show us, create solutions, and prioritize next steps. A What We Heard Report will be shared back with the public later this summer.
The project team is also using 5 years of collision data to identify a high crash network and find trends across high crash locations. A Draft Safe Mobility Strategy will be made available for public input later this year.
These insights and daily experiences will help us shape our strategy to reach Vision Zero and to prioritize traffic safety improvements in the Safe Mobility Strategy.
In the meantime, you and your family can explore your neighbourhood with the Safe Streets Scavenger Hunt. Find as many traffic safety items as you can!
