Parking Ban Status Map

This map shows the priority of roads for snow clearing and when they will be cleared once snow has stopped falling. It also shows which phase of the parking ban each road is a part of. 

During parking bans, the map will be activated to display the status of road clearing operations. 

Type in your address or zoom into the area of the City and click on the road segment to see what phase of the ban these roads are a part of.

Road status legend:

  • Planned: Crews will be entering these areas shortly.
  • In Progress: Parking ban in effect. Crews will be entering these areas within the next 72 hours, or are already in the neighbourhood.
  • Completed: Work complete. Park here if allowed normally.

Citywide Parking Ban: Where To Park

There are several parking options depending on what phase of the ban (Phase 1 or Phase 2) is underway. Refer to the interactive map to see what roads are part of each phase.

Phase 1 Ban

The City clears major roads, core business areas and bus routes.
These are the busier roads, like Jasper Avenue or 124 Street.

Where You Can’t Park

  • On arterial and collector roads (until these roads have been cleared)
  • Bus routes and all roads with ‘Seasonal No Parking’ signs
  • Within the City’s 13 Business Improvement Areas

Where You Can Park

  • You may continue to park your vehicle on residential roads that do not have ‘Seasonal No Parking’ signs
  • Parking garages and public parking lots

Note: For each ban phase, parking will be allowed on roads once they are cleared. You do not have to wait for the City to end the ban before parking on a cleared road.

Phase 2 Ban

The City clears residential and industrial roads.
These are the quieter roads, like the road out front of your house.

Once Phase 1 is complete, the ban will shift to residential and industrial area roads and alleys. No parking on these roads before and during snow clearing.

Where You Can’t Park

  • On residential or industrial area roads (until these roads have been cleared)
  • In residential alleyways

Where You Can Park

  • Any road that has been cleared if parking is allowed there normally, including ‘Seasonal No Parking’ areas
  • With permission, on surplus parking in a neighbour’s property e.g. parking space

Note: For each ban phase, parking will be allowed on roads once they are cleared. You do not have to wait for the City to end the ban before parking on a cleared road.
