About the Program

As a part of the Neighbourhood Renewal Program, the City will be coordinating road construction in industrial neighbourhoods. Prior to construction starting, property owners will receive a bulletin outlining the estimated start and finish dates and contact information.

Industrial Neighbourhood Renewal consists of road rehabilitation and road reconstruction, depending on the condition of the road. Road rehabilitation includes asphalt overlay, or road reclamation first, then an asphalt overlay. Road reconstruction removes the existing asphalt and road base, and replaces it with a new road base and asphalt paving. Other spot concrete repairs are done as well.

2020 Industrial Neighbourhoods

  • Carleton Square: The work began in July 2020 and was completed in August 2020. The project scope included miscellaneous concrete repairs, FDR (full depth reclamation) with foamed asphalt, surface milling and asphaltic concrete resurfacing.
  • Calgary Trail North: The work began in May 2020 and was completed in October 2020. The project scope included drainage upgrades, concrete reconstruction (including growth sidewalk work along both the southside of 58 Avenue and along the Gateway Boulevard service road), roadway rehabilitation with a new asphalt overlay and minor landscaping restoration.

Minor deficiency work will take place in the spring of 2021, which shall include the placement of sod in some areas where landscaping restoration could be not fully completed in 2020 due to weather constraints. EPCOR Technologies will also be installing new street lighting in spring 2021 along both 58 Avenue and 59 Avenue.
