The Neighbourhood Renewal Program in Canora and West Jasper Place will continue in 2019.

Construction Update - Spring 2019

Construction is now underway in Canora and West Jasper Place. The construction includes removal and replacement of street lighting, public sidewalk, curb and gutter, as well as reconstruction and paving of the road.

The June Bulletin contains important project and contact information for residents and property owners, as well as a map of Canora and West Jasper Place which identifies the scope of work planned for 2019. The Prime Contractor working for the City will deliver bulletins outlining the estimated start/finish dates of each portion of the project, along with their contact information.

The City thanks residents and property owners for their patience as we make these improvements.

For special concerns or access requirements, such as DATS, please contact the Delivery Project Manager, at at 780-495-0268.

About the Program

We are returning to Canora and West Jasper Place to complete the Neighbourhood Renewal and implement the designs for the side streets of Stony Plain Road (see map).
The Neighbourhood Renewal Program rehabilitated most of the neighbourhood roads in Canora and West Jasper Place between 2011 and 2014. Between 2012 and 2015, the City constructed streetscaping improvements along Stony Plain Road between 149 Street and 156 Street.  Plans for improvements to the side streets within the study area need to tie into the design of Stony Plain Road, so the City deferred their renewal in order to complete this concept planning study.

In addition to the improvements recommended by this study, the side streets will see the same improvements as standard neighbourhood renewal projects, such as the rehabilitation of sidewalks, road surfaces, curbs and gutters, streetlights and drainage catch basins.

Project History

Pre-Construction Meeting - February 2019

On February 12 2019, the City hosted a public meeting to provide detailed information regarding the final design, what residents can expect during construction and the Local Improvement process for sidewalks.
