Calder has been chosen for neighbourhood renewal beginning in spring 2021 with anticipated completion in 2023.

Construction Update - April 2022

It’s the second year of the Calder Neighbourhood Renewal and we are scheduled to start in May 2022! Construction will consist of the removal and replacement of public sidewalk, curb, gutter, and street lighting, as well as reconstruction and paving of the roads. Please view this scope map to see the 2022 project area.

For those who live in the 2021 Construction Areas , the remaining landscaping work is scheduled to start at the same time as this year’s construction. Landscaping work is highly dependent on weather and sod availability.

Check out the links below to prepare for construction:

The City of Edmonton and EPCOR are working together to construct Low Impact Development (LID), which will help with stormwater retention and help mitigate flooding.

Please watch your mailbox for construction bulletins that will provide more information along with details on landscaping and access. For special concerns or access requirements, such as DATS, please contact the Construction Project Manager, Courtney Beamish at 780-499-3679.

The City would like to thank the residents and property owners of Calder for their patience as we make these improvements to the neighbourhood.

About the Project

The Neighbourhood Renewal program will rehabilitate roads, replace street lights, curbs and gutters, repair sidewalks, and connect missing sidewalk links where possible. Other opportunities to improve parks and public spaces were also explored.

Cost sharing opportunities were available through the Local Improvement process for sidewalk reconstruction and decorative street light upgrades in the neighbourhood. Arterial roads and alleys were not included in the scope of work.

A series of public events were held by the project team which gave residents the opportunity to provide regular feedback on the different stages of the project including design.

Please watch your mailbox for correspondence from Building Great Neighbourhoods and Open Spaces about the Calder Neighbourhood Renewal Project.

What We Decided - May 2021
The What We Decided Report describes the final designs for Calder's neighbourhood renewal, including when and how the City used policy and program information, public engagement input and technical requirements to make project decisions.
