The City of Edmonton is in the Concept phase to upgrade 162 Avenue (between 139 Street and 142 Street) from a rural to an urban road. Along with the roadway improvement, the City is working with CN Rail on plans to improve safety at the rail crossing and silence the train whistle.

Project Details

This project will include:

  • Road reconstruction and widening
  • Installation of curbs and gutters
  • New sidewalk and boulevard on south side of the roadway
  • Upgraded light poles to metal and LED lights
  • New access to properties along 162 Avenue
  • Tree removal
  • Landscaping
  • Underground utility work
  • Railway crossing arms

The project is proposed to start in spring of 2019.

No dates can be set for construction until the final design is completed and a contractor is selected in the spring.
