Public Hearing Procedures

Public Hearings for planning applications are being held remotely, and opportunities are being provided to allow the public to submit their comments/concerns either in writing or by registering to speak remotely.

To Submit Written Comments:

Submit before noon on the day before the Public Hearing. Email: city.clerk@edmonton.ca

To Register to Speak Remotely at the Public Hearing:

Complete the Request to Speak Form before noon on the day before the Public Hearing or call the Office of the City Clerk at 780-496-8178. Following registration, the remote City Council Statutory Public Hearing procedure will be made available to you.

Proposed

6503 101 Avenue NW

A planning application (map) has been submitted for a property at 6503 101 Avenue NW. The application proposes to rezone the southeast portion of the property from Metropolitan Recreation Zone (A) and Shopping Centre Zone (CSC) to Medium Rise Apartment Zone (RA8). If approved, the proposed zone will allow for a 23 m high residential building (approximately 6 storeys) with limited commercial opportunities at ground level.

There is no plan in effect for this area. Due to the site's proximity to the Capilano Transit Centre, the Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Guidelines apply. The proposed zone meets the minimum density requirements of the TOD Guidelines.

The applicant (City of Edmonton Real Estate) intends to develop a residential building on the subject site for permanent supportive housing.  For more information about the intended development, visit the applicant’s web page

Thank You for Your Feedback

From August 26-September 22, 2020, feedback was collected online through the new Engaged Edmonton online virtual engagement tool in lieu of an in-person engagement session.

Input from Edmontonians will be used to inform conversations with the applicant about potential revision to the proposal to address concerns or opportunities raised. Feedback will also be summarized in the report to City Council when the proposed rezoning goes to a future City Council Public Hearing for a decision.

Using City Maps Tool for Zoning Information

The maps.edmonton.ca tool provides information on in-progress rezoning applications received before April 1, 2017.
To use it, follow these steps:
  1. Go to maps.edmonton.ca, and select "Zoning” from the menu
  2. Navigate to an area on the map or enter an address to search
  3. In the top right legend, select the green checkbox for “In progress rezoning applications”
  4. Information like the application date, status and a link to the current (more detailed) document(s) is shown in the box at the bottom of the page
