Public engagement activities helping guide the rezoning, plan amendment, and text amendments for the Marquis Town Centre.
Extensive public consultation was held for the proposed Marquis Town Centre between 2011 and 2014 while the Horse Hill Area Structure Plan and Marquis Neighbourhood Structure Plan were being prepared.
Advance notices for this application were sent to 470 nearby property owners. As the proposed zoning was implementing the approved Marquis Neighbourhood Structure Plan (NSP), no additional public consultation was undertaken.
A public open house was hosted by the applicant in May, and one by Planning and Environment Services in June at the Horse Hill Elementary School.
During the NSP preparation when the town centre concept was developed, 2 stakeholder sessions were held as well as a session where participants discussed their vision for the future.
The application for LDA 16-0282 will go for third reading at the February 13, 2018, Council meeting as agenda items 7.4, 7.5, 7.6 and 7.7, and as Bylaws 18197, 18198, 18199, and 18200.
The proposed rezoning, including the 2 associated plan amendments, received 2 readings at the November 17, 2017 Council public hearing. The item went to the Capital Region Board (CRB) before being considered for a third reading and final Council decision.
