Please note: Bookings for Fall 2017 school tours are full. Spring tour spots are still available.

When can I book for next year?

Tour booking for the 2017/2018 school year will open on May 1, 2017.

How far in advance should I book my tour(s)?
Tour spots fill very quickly, especially for fall months (Sept – Dec). We recommend booking several months in advance to get your preferred date.
How many tours can I book at one time?

Our online booking system allows you to book up to two tours in a 'single booking' session.

If you wish to book more than two tours, you will require 'multiple booking' sessions. Alternatively, you may call us to book them at 780-496-6879.

I would like to bring two classes at the same time. Is this possible?

Yes. We can run two tours each morning and afternoon. To accommodate this request, our online booking system allows you to book up to two tours in the same booking session.

Please remember that each class requires a separate tour booking, bus and teacher chaperone.

I have to cancel or reschedule my booking. How can I do this?

You can cancel or reschedule your tour using our online booking system.

We require three weeks notice of cancellation/rescheduling so that we can open your vacated spot for another group. We reserve the right to refuse future bookings from schools that cancel with less than three weeks notice.

If you need to cancel or reschedule your tour within three weeks of your date, please call us at 780-496-6879.

What curriculum objectives does the tour meet?
The tour is designed to complement the Grade 4 Waste and Our World unit. However, objectives can be modified to complement many different curriculums.
What will we see on our tour?

The tour typically visits 3 facilities on our site:

  1. The Materials Recovery Facility, which processes recyclables collected in Edmonton’s recycling programs.
  2. The Integrated Processing and Transfer Facility (IPTF), which prepares waste for composting, conversion to biofuels or transfer to landfill.
  3. Global Electric Electronic Processing (GEEP) Alberta, which processes and recycles e-waste, including electronics dropped off at Eco Stations by Edmontonians.

You will also see the Cloverbar Sanitary Landfill, which is now closed.

How do I get to the EWMC?

The EWMC is located at 250 Aurum Road NE (formerly 13111 Meridian Street NE), just north of where Anthony Henday Drive meets Yellowhead Trail in northeast Edmonton.

Where should we go when we arrive?
Please check-in at the Administration & Training Facility (Site 100). Your guide will meet you here and begin the tour on your bus.
Are there washroom facilities at the EWMC?
Washroom facilities are extremely limited on-site. Please have students use washrooms before leaving school.
Can my students have a lunch or snack break at the EWMC?
Unfortunately we do not have an on-site area where students can eat lunch or snacks. Please arrange for students to eat before or after your field trip.

Don't see your question here?
