The City, in partnership with the Infill Development in Edmonton Association (IDEA), has launched the two-year Expedited Infill Pilot.

This pilot is intended to encourage better construction practices and works to support Action 14 of the Infill Roadmap, “Improve permitting process timelines and consistency,” by offering expedited development permit review timelines for participants.

The Expedited Infill Pilot is made up of two components:

  • The Builder Education Program (referred to as the IDEA Infill Certification Program for the two-year pilot)
  • The Expedited Infill Review Process

Expedited Infill Review Process

The Expedited Infill Pilot offers reduced target timelines for eligible participants.

Dedicated Development Officers will review expedited applications to provide 21-day review timelines and help track application quality.

Additionally, applications submitted through the expedited process must meet all eligibility criteria.

Builder Education Program

In order to become eligible to participate in the Expedited Infill Pilot, you must successfully complete the Education Program offered through the Infill Development in Edmonton Association (IDEA), where you’ll learn:

  • Design basics for residential infill development
