City of Edmonton

The City of Edmonton is one partner in the arena project.

  • owns the arena and community rink and the land it is on
  • contributes to the funding of the arena
  • builds related public infrastructure (LRT connection, pedestrian walkways) needed to support the arena building and is consistent with other public buildings such as schools and hospitals.

Edmonton Arena Corporation (EAC)

The EAC is the other partner in the arena project.

  • is owned by the Katz Group, which also owns the Edmonton Oilers
  • contributes to the funding of the arena
  • will be the primary tenant of the arena
  • will manage arena operations
  • will receive all revenues generated from arena operations
  • will pay for all operation expenses and maintenance costs

ICON Venue Group

ICON is the project manager for the downtown arena project. 

  • responsible for overseeing the design and construction to keep the project on budget and on schedule 
  • is a recognized firm with extensive experience in arena and stadium projects
  • has experience in completing high quality projects on time and on budget

In the last 10 years, ICON has been the project manager for nine new arenas, including:

  • Denver Pepsi Center 
  • New Jersey Prudential Center 
  • Pittsburgh CONSOL Energy Center

PCL

PCL is the construction manager for the downtown arena project.

  • local construction company, and the largest contracting organization in Canada 
  • experience working on many large projects including the Edmonton International Airport Terminal Building Expansion
PCL was hired to prepare the Guaranteed Maximum Price (GMP) for the downtown arena project. Upon presenting a GMP that was on budget and accepted by the City and the Katz Group in February, 2014, PCL was hired as the construction manager for the arena project.

HOK

HOK is the architect for the Rogers Place (the original architect was 360 Architecture, which was purchased by HOK)

  • worked with a team of local contractors in developing the iconic design of the new arena
  • specializes in integrating arenas within entertainment districts to promote revitalization
  • has experience designing arenas all over the world
  • recognized for their responsible and creative designs that address the individual issues of each project

One of their best known projects is the Columbus Nationwide Arena, which is part of a larger arena district which successfully revitalized the surrounding area.
