Project Update - June 2019
On Monday March 4, 2019 the project team attended the Strathcona Neighborhood Renewal Information Session to gather additional feedback from area residents and commuters on 2 options for the intersection improvement.
This was done to supplement feedback received in spring 2018, which determined the proposed permanent removal of the Eastbound to Southbound (EB - SB) right turn off of Saskatchewan Drive to 99 Street would negatively impact the community and traffic in the area.
The 2 options presented included the original concept presented spring 2018 and a second modified version that would not ban the EB-SB turn off Saskatchewan Drive. Please refer to the What We Heard Report for a detailed summary of the information gathered at that event.
Following this event and the feedback collected, the project team decided to proceed with the option that will maintain the EB - SB right turn. This design prioritizes pedestrian safety while also retaining a key traffic movement to preserve intersection functionality.
