Fact Sheet

In 2017 the City of Edmonton will begin construction on the following northeast rural roads:

  • Intersection improvements at Manning Drive/18 Street
  • Rehabilitation of 195 Avenue from 18 Street to Horse Hill Creek
  • Rehabilitation/widening of 18 Street from 167 Avenue to Fort Road

About the Project

Manning Drive is an important commuter and goods movement corridor in Edmonton’s northeast. It connects to Fort Saskatchewan, Gibbons and Alberta Industrial Heartland. This area of the City will be experiencing tremendous growth over the next few years, including the neighbourhood of Horse Hill and the Edmonton Energy and Technology Park (EETP). This future growth will necessitate upgrades to Manning Drive to create a fully free-flow corridor with accesses provided through interchanges at Meridian Street (1 Street) and at Highway 28A in the long term. A flyover will also be constructed at the current intersection of 18 Street and Manning Drive (Highway 15) once alternate access to the area is established. A safety review of the area was conducted in 2015.
