The City will be installing a crosswalk at 170 Street and 90 Avenue and conducting a concept planning study for a new pedestrian bridge.

About the Project

A new pedestrian crossing is needed on 170 Street, between 87 Avenue and 90 Avenue. To accommodate current and future safety and accessibility needs, the City will be installing a crosswalk at 170 Street and 90 Avenue and will also be conducting a concept planning study for a new pedestrian bridge.

170 Street and 90 Avenue Crosswalk

The City will be installing a crosswalk at 170 Street, on the south side of 90 Avenue, for the accessibility and safety of those requiring to cross east and west in the area (see construction bulletin). This crossing is an important connection in the area that provides access to local businesses, transit, amenities and neighbouring communities.

2019: Crosswalk construction complete

Pedestrian Bridge Concept Planning Study

The City is completing a concept planning study to identify the recommended location and structure type for a new pedestrian bridge across 170 Street between 87 Avenue and 90 Avenue. A new pedestrian bridge would provide pedestrians access to area businesses, schools and transit options while minimizing disruption to vehicular traffic along 170 Street.

The concept planning study is anticipated to be complete by the end of 2019 and will identify a preferred location and structure type for a pedestrian bridge. Upon completion of the concept plan, the project team will request funding approval through City Council for the next stages of design and construction.

2019: Complete concept planning study
