Eastglen Leisure Centre has been a neighbourhood gem since its construction in the early 1960s. It is nestled in the charming Bellevue Community along 68 street and 114 avenue. During the facility’s first renovation in the mid 1980s, a steam room and hot tub were added. Eastglen was one of the first pools in the City to convert from a chlorine disinfection system to a salt water system in the early 1990s. Since then it has undergone several renovations to ensure that it remains a vibrant community facility.

Project Overview

Public consultation was completed in 2015 to help the City understand what role the Eastglen facility plays in the daily life of the community and its users, to understand the needs of Eastglen users and find collaborative solutions to optimize use of the facility. The summary report can be read in the Community Consultation Summary Report.

As a result of the feedback, a functional program was completed to define the functions and space improvements for consideration in future renewals for Eastglen Leisure Centre. The functional program provides the City with a clear understanding of the functional criteria and physical improvements to be achieved in the design of the facility and its amenities. The functional program ensures that Eastglen Leisure Centre continues to serve the recreational needs of Edmontonians by ensuring the facility remains functional and accessible.  2017 Eastglen Program Final Report
