Construction Updates

​In order to facilitate construction of new boat docks and launch locations at Dawson Park, Hawrelak Park and Laurier Park, a section of trees at each location, were removed. Tree removals will occur at the Whitemud Park location in mid-August 2018. City-owned trees are a highly valued asset and are only removed when all other preservation options are unsuitable.

Construction of the boat docks and launch locations will begin in August 2018.

Construction of Emily Murphy Park will be done as part of the Groat Road Bridges project once bridge rehabilitation is complete.

Laurier Park:  August to the end of October 2018

Project involves construction of a new seasonal floating dock and a new viewing deck on the river bank.  Closures to the launch ramp related to construction are not expected at this time.  Gravel trail detours will be required, please respect and follow all signage.

Hawrelak Park:  August to the end of October 2018

Project involves construction of a new seasonal floating dock, retaining wall and viewing area. Temporary gravel trail closure may be required during the work; please respect and follow all signage.

Dawson Park:  August to the end of October 2018

Project involves construction of a new seasonal floating dock, regrading the trail to the river and construction of a retaining wall.  Full trail closures are expected during construction for public safety. Please respect and follow all signage.

50 Street/Capilano Park:  Mid-August to October 2018

Project involves construction of a new seasonal floating dock and expansion of the concrete launch ramp. A complete closure of the entire launch site is expected during construction for public safety. Please use the Laurier launch site during the closure. Please respect and follow all signage.

Whitemud Park:  August to October 2018

Project involves construction of a new seasonal floating dock and a short gravel trail to the river. Detours to the adjacent trails may occur. Please respect and follow all signage. Tree clearing will occur in August.
