Central McDougall and Queen Mary Park are mature neighbourhoods located just north of downtown, each with their own distinctive urban character, demographics and socio-economic dynamics. These neighbourhoods have witnessed limited growth over the past few decades, despite their central location. It is recognized that some revitalization efforts are required, and a Revitalization Strategy for the area was approved by Council in 2012.

The Central McDougall / Queen Mary Park Urban Design Analysis was undertaken to support the area’s Revitalization Strategy. It will investigate the existing urban environment, its functionality, connectivity, aesthetics and the overall urban experience of the neighbourhood. This information will seek to and suggest improvements in order to stimulate livability, walkability, place-making, enhanced social interactions and local businesses. This study will ultimately support the overarching goals of the Neighbourhood Revitalization initiative.
