October 14, 2019: All access to Yellowhead Trail at 89 Street will be permanently closed. Signals will be turned off and barricades will be installed to close access between Yellowhead Trail and 89 Street.

As part of the Yellowhead Trail Freeway Conversion Program, changes will be made between 97 Street and 82 Street including:
Traffic signals and direct access to Yellowhead Trail at 89 Street will be removed fall 2019
Pedestrian access will be maintained at 97 Street and 82 Street
On-street parking along 125A Avenue will be removed
Minor modifications to the 97 Street and 82 Street interchanges to facilitate large truck movements
Modifications to 125A Avenue include rehabilitation, intersection improvements and the addition of missing sidewalk connections
Addition of a second westbound through lane across the 82 Street interchange
Where We Are Now
All access to and from Yellowhead Trail at 89 Street will be permanently closed on Monday, October 14, 2019. The traffic signals will be turned off and barricades will be installed to fully close access between Yellowhead Trail and 89 Street.
Permanent no stopping signs will also be installed along 125A Avenue.
Lane closures and reduced speed on Yellowhead Trail between 97 Street and 82 Street will remain in place until project completion. Construction began in spring 2019 and is expected to be completed later this fall.
