Project Update - June 2020
The City has started construction on the outdoor niche project at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. The existing unistone trail will be demolished and discarded. This will be replaced with a new scattering garden and trail with sections having material which will match the stone on the Hillside Landings (east facing side) to create a more unified appearance. The 10 columbaria in the existing unistone trail will be relocated to a new concrete plaza in another location within the cemetery.

About the Projects
Mount Pleasant Indoor Niche (Columbarium)
Planning and design for the second floor of the indoor Niche building is complete. Construction started in 2019 and will be completed in fall 2020. This work will create additional indoor niche availability at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
The Indoor Niche building will remain open during construction. The construction will have no impacts on existing niche units within the building.
Outdoor Niche Construction and Pathway Rehabilitation
The outdoor stone pathway has shifted and needs to be rehabilitated for the safety of all visitors. The pathway will continue to deteriorate in the future, therefore the outdoor niche units along the pathway will be relocated to a southwest area in the cemetery. A new scattering garden with plants and shrubs will be placed along the pathway once it is rehabilitated.
Preliminary design of the new pathway is complete, with construction scheduled to be completed by summer 2020, weather dependent. Moving of the niche units will take place in spring 2020.
