The reuse areas within the Kennedale and Ambleside Eco Stations will remain closed until Stage 3 of the province’s relaunch plan or the end of August, whichever is later.


Located in Southwest Edmonton, Ambleside Eco Station is a comprehensive waste drop-off facility where you can bring household hazardous waste and  waste that does not belong in your garbage.

Eco Station Fees

Eco Stations are convenient waste drop-off facilities where you can bring electronics and household hazardous waste like paint, batteries and lights bulbs, and anything that does not belong in your garbage.

Payment options

Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Interac. 
*Cash payments are not available at Eco Stations until further notice.

Small items: $9 each

Chairs or comparable volume

Large items: $16 each

Mattress, box spring, sofa or comparable volume

Items requiring CFC removal: $16 each

Fridge, freezer, air conditioner

Loose waste or mixed load
Partial load​: $29 per load
Level half-tonne: $39 per load
Heaping half-tonne: $49 per load
Cube van: subject to viewing

Mixed brush, tree trimmings, garden waste, soil / gravel, lumber, concrete pieces, wood or vinyl siding, shingles, windows, fencing

Eco Station attendants have final say about the acceptability of items and the charges applied to each load.

Commercial hazardous waste
Commercial biomedical waste
Radioactive waste
Pressurized gases

The following items should be taken to your community police station.

Free Drop-off

Motor oil, antifreeze, gas, diesel, oil filters, batteries and parts, tires (passenger car and truck, motorcycle and ATV tires only)

Corrosive/poisonous cleaners

Bleach, drain, toilet and oven cleaners

Electronics and appliances

Anything with a cord or a battery, computers/TVs (maximum 20 monitors per visit), lawnmowers, power tools, stoves, washing machines

Lawn and garden

Herbicides, pesticides, fertilizer


All light bulbs, fluorescent tubes and lighting fixtures
Commercial fee for light bulbs: $1 per tube and 50 cents per CFC


Empty or full cans (including aerosols) thinner, turpentine, varnish

Recyclables (clean)

Newspaper, metal cans, plastic bags

Reuse Centre Materials

Acceptable material only

Scrap Metal

BBQs, bicycles, rebar


Only tires managed under the Provincial Tire Recycling Program will be accepted from residential customers

Yard Waste

Grass, leaf and yard waste (loose or in paper bags) will be accepted for free from residential customers

Please note that sod, loads of mixed brush and tree trimmings, soil, etc. are subject to charges. See "Loose Waste or Mixed Load" for pricing information.


Batteries (all kinds), aerosol cans, propane tanks or bottles, fire extinguishers, syringes, glue

Free Mulch

Dependent on supply, free mulch is available at the Ambleside and Kennedale Eco Stations. Visit the Free Mulch Program page to learn more or to check availability.
