Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is a joint municipal-provincial funding program that funds preventive social services programs. The overarching priority for Edmonton FCSS is to increase social inclusion and equity by funding preventive programs and services, community development initiatives and social infrastructure.
2023-2025 Evolving the Social Services Sector Grant
Edmonton FCSS is looking to build a strong social services sector. One that ensures individuals, organizations and broader civil society have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes required to provide a coordinated, collaborative and connected web of support. It facilitates policy and systems change, in particular, to support equity.
Edmonton FCSS is inviting organizations and collaboratives who are interested in addressing The Challenge below, through specific programs/projects to apply for funding. Funding through this grant program will be awarded for up to three years, and is not for general operating funding.
“We all know that there are issues with the current social ecosystem, which comprises governments, institutions, social services nonprofits and agencies, mutual aid, communities, and ultimately—everyone. The current system's design continues to perpetuate and exacerbate social problems in our city. Re-examining starts with exploring worldviews. How can we creatively support communities and organizations to build a strong social ecosystem where more and more people benefit? We need to identify what is strength and what is weakness in the social services sector. We need to re-imagine what roles, resources, routines, interactions, environments, micro and macro systems shifts are needed to build a healthy and strong social ecosystem.”
