On May 5, the Government of Alberta implemented new public health measures to address the spread of COVID-19. These public health restrictions directly impact the Community Bin Grant which the City of Edmonton was offering, with particular relevance to outdoor gathering restrictions. In order to comply with the current public health measures, the Community Bin Grant will be temporarily postponed.
During this postponement:
- New Community Bin Grant applications and existing Community Bin Grant applications will not be processed.
- Any Community Bin Grant events must be postponed.
We are committed to re-evaluating the postponed status of the program near the end of May 2021.
Each spring, dozens of Edmonton community groups apply for help to get rid of any large, bulky items cluttering up the back alleys, streets or other areas in their neighbourhoods. Under the Community Bin Grant Program, the City offers funds on a first-come, first-served basis that can be used for bin rentals (including the truck, driver and disposal costs) and truck rentals to drive through the area and collect large items.
