The Rising Youth Program is a City of Edmonton initiative that prepares young people to step up to the challenges in their community, become leaders and volunteers, and have fun in a safe, enriching environment.

The Rising Youth Program was created to provide sustainable opportunities for youth from new and emerging communities to participate in recreation, citizenship, leadership & skill development programs within Edmonton. The program is drop-in and happens Monday through Friday with a field trip once a month on the weekend.

Youth are given the opportunity to experience new recreation opportunities through the direction of their leaders and with guest instructors. Our Program Leaders plan activities based on the interest of the youth that attend their programs. Some examples of activities that we have participated in at our program are bowling, skiing, tie dye, basketball, board games and cooking.

All youth in grades 9-12 are welcome to attend.

Field Trips and Tournaments

Explore new activities during free monthly outings, such as: hiking, bowling, paintball, rock climbing, biking, swimming, skating.

In addition to our monthly outings, we host a Rising Youth Annual Basketball Tournament. Youth from all our sites put teams together and compete in a 2 day tournament to win prizes and show their basketball talents to other Edmonton youth.

Youth Volunteer Projects and Workshops

Become a leader in your community. Learn and have fun with peers and mentors and improve your communication, employment, leadership and teamwork skills through attending one of our volunteer workshops.

Rising Youth also provides meaningful team-based volunteer opportunities to youth between the ages of 12 and 18. During the summer months this will occur on Fridays.
