As evacuation orders have been lifted for the Town of Hay River and the Town of Fort Smith in the South Slave Region of the Northwest Territories, the City of Edmonton has now closed the Edmonton Emergency Reception Centre.

Since August 18, 7,540 evacuees and 1,314 pets were registered and offered support. The Edmonton Emergency Reception Centre provided temporary lodging, food, clothing, animal care, health care and mental health supports. More than 4,100 meals were served, and hotel rooms were arranged for 1,760 households.

The City of Edmonton has been proud to support its neighbours, and will be ready to support if other emergencies happen within our city or in other communities.
