This web-based guide was developed to help inform residents and businesses about planned infrastructure projects across the city. It is a snapshot of current major infrastructure projects in concept, design or being built by the City of Edmonton.

The map is divided into two parts, Standalone Projects and Composite Programs and highlights the capital program being delivered by the Integrated Infrastructure Services Department including facility, LRT, open space and transportation projects.

Standalone Projects and Composite Programs

How the Map Works

By clicking on a project icon, you will see a brief description of the project including scope, schedule, budget, asset type and location for the planned work. These projects are at various phases in the delivery of a capital project, which are identified as concept and development design, detailed design and build. They are mapped accordingly to provide context for all of the work happening throughout the City.

It's our hope to continually improve the openness and transparency of the work that we are undertaking on behalf of Edmontonians.

How the Map is Organized

In addition to an icon representing the type of asset that is being delivered, the colour of the icon indicates whether the project is in the concept and development design, detailed design or build phase.

Phases of the Projects

Phase Colour Phase Description

Concept and Development Design
Includes concept and any design work that defines the project (scope, schedule, budget, quality, risks) to a level of certainty where there are only budget and schedule adjustments resulting from significant unforeseen conditions.

Detailed Design
Includes all design work required for a project to be transferred to our in-house construction services or an external contractor in order to be constructed. Detailed design deliverables should enable project managers to begin work towards construction.

Build
Includes any work performed during the construction of the project.

Standalone Projects Map

Composite Program

This includes a number of projects that are being delivered as part of an overall program of work. Projects may take place at locations across the city but would be part of the same program (roofs or bridge rehabilitation work).

Composite Programs Map

Approved Budget

The total current approved funding by Council to deliver the project or program.

Project End Date

Refers to the project completion date as approved by Council. This is the date which the project is expected to be open to the public or the City’s own operations area for its intended use (that is, recreation centre is open to the public, motorists are able to drive on the road, maintenance facility is operational). In the event that a project is trending to be delivered past its original end date, its anticipated completion date is also included.
