Whether it’s driving a train or bus, doing maintenance and repairs, or taking steps to enhance the transit experience, our staff helps Edmontonians access the places they need and want to go conveniently, safely and reliably.
Transit operators and staff are the face of ETS, but they’re also an important part of the Edmonton community!
Pipes and Drums of Edmonton Transit Society
If you’ve been to events like the Highland Games, Robbie Burns Day, or St. Patrick’s Day, you may have enjoyed the music played by the Pipes and Drums of Edmonton Transit Society. Founded in 1964, the Pipes and Drums of Edmonton Transit Society is a volunteer group involved in community parades and events in the greater Edmonton area and across Canada. Most recently, their travels brought them across the Rockies to Victoria, B.C. for the 2024 Highland Games and, incidentally, for the Society's 60th anniversary.
Jo-Ann Rauschenberger, Transit Delivery Supervisor with ETS as well as the Pipe Sergeant and Treasurer for the Society, shared a bit about her experience with the group: “It’s been great! You get to do such fun things. You get to play for birthday parties, anniversaries - I played for the Lieutenant Governor … lots of different kinds of stuff.”
Next year they hope to make the trip to Fredericton, New Brunswick, for the 2026 Highland Games.
