Numerous construction projects are taking place around the city that require adjustments to bus routes and schedules.

Current transit construction projects.

66 Street Tunnel Renewal/NAIT Station Closure

From April 28 to August 30 (excluding K-Days), crews will be completing revitalization work on the 66 Street tunnel between Coliseum and Belvedere stations, including track replacement and work on the overhead catenary system. As a result, from 5am-7pm on weekdays, Capital and Metro Line trains will run every 12 minutes between Churchill and Clareview, and Churchill and Kingsway, respectively. Trains will run every 6 minutes between Century Park and Churchill. On weekends and after 7pm on weekdays, Capital and Metro Line trains run every 15 minutes.

In July and August, ETS will operate 4-car trains on both lines, excluding special event days. For special event days (Eskimos games/K-Days parade), ETS will operate 5-car trains.

However, since NAIT Station can only accommodate 3-car trains, LRT service is suspended to NAIT. Metro Line trains will start/end at Kingsway/Royal Alex Station, instead of NAIT.

To access the LRT from NAIT or to get to NAIT, customers can take bus routes 8 or 9. These bus routes typically run every 15 minutes and include the following bus stops:

  • #1075 (105 St and 118 Ave WB)
  • #1476 (106 St and 118 Ave EB)
  • #1532 (106 St/118 Ave loop/NAIT loop)- Route 9 only
  • #1227 (106 St and 117 Ave NB) #1223 (106 St and 117 Ave SB)

During K-Days (July 19-28), work on the 66th Street tunnel will be suspended to allow Capital Line LRT service to return to regular weekday frequency (5/10 minutes from 5am-7pm). Metro Line trains will run every 15 minutes and evening/weekend frequency for both lines remains at 15 minutes.

Both lines will run 4-car trains during regular service. On the K-Days parade day (July 19), both lines will run 5-car trains. On July 25 (Eskimos game day), Capital Line trains will be 5-cars starting in the afternoon.

ETS will also operate 5-car trains on the Capital Line on July 20 and 21. Please note: on July 21, Metro Line trains will only run between Kingsway and University due to emergent track work.

Platform Warning Tile Improvements

ETS will be upgrading platform warning tile at five outdoor LRT stations:

  • Clareview: starts on May 17
  • Kingsway/Royal Alex: starts on June 7
  • MacEwan: starts on June 29
  • Southgate: starts in August (final dates TBD)
  • Health Sciences/Jubilee: starts in August (final dates TBD)
    • Please note there is ongoing preliminary platform repair work at Health Sciences/Jubilee station until mid-August. While work is underway, the south street-level entrance will be closed. Please use the street-level entrance at the north side of the platform.

These upgrades will occur on weekends and during evenings on weekdays (after 7pm). To complete the upgrades, there may be minimal service delays as trains pull into the station (five minutes or less).

Trains should maintain the regular 15-minute frequency, except for special event days, when trains run every 12 minutes. If that changes, updates will be communicated on this page and on social media.

Please note these dates could change depending on the weather and the condition of the platform under the tile. Once the original tiles are removed, more work may be required before installing the new tiles.

Transit Centre Improvements

Making your transit better

To improve customer experience and safety in the long term, 13 transit construction projects are happening at 11 locations thanks to the Public Transit Infrastructure Fund (PTIF).

Some bus stops have moved and some bus transit buildings are closed. Temporary bus stops are in place - please leave extra travel time in order to find your new bus stop location.

The latest information on bus stop closures and move locations is found on ETS Trip Planner.
