Starting Sunday August 30, ETS will be resuming regular bus service levels. LRT will be extended back to regular end of service, which is approximately 1:30am, but will operate on reduced frequencies as a result of the Stadium LRT Station Redevelopment project. Late Night Owl service will also be restored.

On Monday, August 31 and Tuesday, September 1, buses will operate on regular weekday service with no school special bus routes or school branches of existing routes as there will be no Public and Catholic school trips. On Labour Day, Monday, September 7,  buses will operate on a Sunday service level.

Original routing will resume for community routes (bus routes 303 - 309, 312, 322, 323 and 340), as these smaller (30 foot) buses will be put back into service.
However, regional service for Beaumont (Route 540) continues to be suspended until further notice.

As transit service resumes, DATS late night service for essential health care workers will discontinue as of August 29.

Plan ahead by double checking route schedules and use real-time tools to track your bus anywhere, anytime. Due to short notice schedule changes, please use Google Maps, Transit app or the Trip Planner to plan trips between August 30 and September 12. ETS Live will have up-to-date schedules starting September 13.

Back to School Safety on Transit

As students return to school for fall, we appreciate parents may have concerns about the health and safety of their children on transit. The safety of our staff and customers remains a top priority.

Throughout September, ETS will be closely monitoring the number of students on school bus routes through school inspectors and ridership data. ETS will continue to assess how it can best support the transportation needs of students and all passengers.

ETS will focus on educating passengers, including students, about mandatory masks or face coverings when using public transit, transit centres and LRT platforms, as well as the continued importance of following all Alberta Health Services guidelines.

Please make sure you dispose of your used disposable masks and/or gloves into a waste bin. If one is not available, store your used materials in a plastic bag until they can be disposed of properly.

While maintaining 2 metres of physical distance between passengers may be challenging on public transit, ETS is encouraging passengers to practice physical distancing between themselves and others where possible.

ETS will maintain a number of enhanced safety measures to respond to COVID-19 including an enhanced cleaning protocol and use of a disinfecting agent applied daily with an electrostatic sprayer to all ETS vehicles before they go into service at transit centres and LRT stations. In addition, ETS will continue to deploy buses with Operator shields to provide a safety barrier between the Operator and passengers.

Please note: Major bus route changes are tentatively planned for mid-2021. Stay tuned for more information throughout the school year.

School Special Service

ETS has worked with the school boards to time School Special bus routes to accommodate as many students as possible. This has resulted in time changes on several routes in response to changes in school start and finish times.

Similar to last year, School Special bus routes that are not an extension of an existing route are numbered 601 to 616 for AM service and 800 to 814 for PM service. Use our School Service Tool to plan your trip.

Post-Secondary School Service

Routes that connect to post-secondary institutions have been cancelled until further notice (routes 54, 97, 98 and 399) due to post-secondary institutions shifting to distance learning.

Please note: the U-Pass program is suspended for the Fall session. Once institution timelines are finalized for the Winter session, we will share that information.

Please note: As part of Edmonton Transit Service’s Fare Policy approved by City Council in November 2019, which took effect February 1, 2020, the Post-Secondary Pass is being discontinued effective August 31, 2020.
