Qualifications Needed
These basic qualifications are the same for all positions. See below for additional requirements for specific positions.
- Grade 12 or General Education Development (GED) or equivalent qualifications and experience.
- Proven ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions in English.
- Valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's licence or operator's licensing equivalent (non-probationary & non-graduated).
- Held a valid operator's licence for the last 3 consecutive years.
- Selected applicants must provide a minimum 5-year Driver's Abstract showing no more than 3 demerits (or equivalent) and no more than one (1) moving violation within 5 years and no past, or pending license suspensions nor Criminal Code suspensions or convictions within 5 years. Non-driving related suspensions of registry services if indicated, must show a reinstatement date.
- Demonstrated success dealing with the public in a position that requires excellent interpersonal, problem solving, conflict resolution and independent decision making skills.

Hours of Work

Conventional Transit Operator - Full Time | Various hours of shift work (straight or split shifts), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week. First year: guaranteed minimum 67.5 hours biweekly. Thereafter: guaranteed minimum 74 hours biweekly. |
DATS Operator - Full Time | Various hours of shift work (straight or split shifts), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week, up to 40 hours per week. |
DATS Operator - Part Time | Various hours of shift work (straight or split shifts), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week, up to 20 hours per week if in a Part Time 40 position or up to 30 hours per week if in a Part Time 60 position. |
Community Service Operator | Various hours of shift work (straight or split shifts), any time of the day, any 5 days of the week with shifts starting as part-time, progressing to full-time based on availability and length of service. |
