On May 29, 2017, City Council approved changes to Mature Neighbourhood Overlay (MNO) Regulations. The regulations are effective September 1, 2017. A summary of changes is listed in the MNO Fact Sheet document.
The Mature Neighbourhood Overlay applies to Edmonton's mature neighbourhoods. Created in 2001, the MNO is a part of the Zoning Bylaw that requires development that better suits older communities with tree-lined streets.
As part of the Mature Neighbourhood Overlay Review, City staff have made changes to MNO regulations after holding multiple public consultation events with residents, Community Leagues, and the development industry. Staff received over 7,800 responses and submissions from consultation events!
