Edmonton Learning City is a community partnership committed to supporting all Edmontonians in their lifelong learning journeys. This commitment supports personal growth - while also contributing to 3 areas: inclusion, economy, and culture.
In 2022, Edmonton became the first Canadian city to join UNESCO’s network of top education cities in the world, along with cities including Hamburg, Shanghai and Beijing.
Edmonton joins UNESCO’s Global Network of Learning Cities (GNLC) - an international network of cities committed to excellence in learning for all, to foster a culture of learning throughout life to enhance social inclusion, economic development and cultural prosperity.
Edmonton’s Community Learning Action Plan is a commitment to inclusive, equitable and quality lifelong education opportunities for all.
A community coalition was established in 2021, led by Mayor Sohi, on behalf of the City of Edmonton comprising of the following partners:
