In Terwillegar off leash area, there is a large growth of field scabious, a noxious weed. Because the weed spreads easily on shoes and dog fur, it is crucial that this growth be controlled. Join us at Bark in the Park for tree planting, weed pulling, and education on native and noxious species in the area.
Date: Saturday July 8
Time: 10am - 2pm
Location: Terwillegar off-leash area parking lot, 10 Rabbit Hill Road
Here’s what to expect at the event:
Interpretive tours. Tour guides will highlight growths of the noxious weed field scabious, as well as natural species like yellow lady slipper, Seneca snakeroot, buffalo berry bush and sandbar willow. You’ll see how noxious weeds are encroaching on the natural vegetation.
Weed pull. Be part of the solution! We’ll be pulling a growth of the noxious weed common tansy northeast of the parking lot. Fill a bag with pulled weeds and get a tree or shrub to plant!
- Tree and shrub planting. Root for Trees will be working to naturalize areas of the park. Learn more about this great program and plant your own tree.
