As a partnership between the Edmonton Seniors Coordinating Council and the City of Edmonton, the Age Friendly Edmonton (AFE) initiative is building a city that’s happier, safer and more interesting for everyone of all ages. A dedicated group of volunteers sits on AFE’s Leadership Table and Action Hubs — providing strategic direction and project support in four priority areas:

  • Supporting Aging in Place
  • Encouraging Intergenerational Connections
  • Responding to Diversity
  • Reducing Ageism

Initiative activities respond to identified community needs, and aim to impact the following:

  • Increased knowledge or awareness
  • Improved program or service delivery
  • A change to policy or systems.
Our Vision

Edmonton is an age-friendly city that recognizes the diverse contributions and needs of seniors, and actively supports their inclusion, engagement, and well-being

Our Purpose

We raise awareness about age-friendly ideas and bring people together to create opportunities that enhance the aging experience for our communities.
