October 2016 Report
The City is exploring automated vehicle technology to understand how it might be incorporated into Edmonton’s transportation system in the future.
Shifting Edmonton’s transportation modes is one of the City’s highest priorities. We are building an interconnected, multi-modal transportation system where citizens can walk, bike and ride transit efficiently and conveniently to their desired location. Automated vehicle technology is one tool that could help us get there. We are exploring how automated technology can be integrated into the transit system and into shared fleets (like Pogo) rather than only as privately owned automobiles. It is likely that automated vehicle technology will start to become more advanced and applicable in Edmonton within the next ten years.
