In 2009, City Council decided to expand membership of the Audit Committee to include two citizens with an extensive background in financial accountability in large organisations.
Owen Edmondson is a graduate of the University of Alberta, where he completed his MBA and Bachelor of Science degree. He is a Certified General Accountant and completed the advanced executive program at the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario.
Mary Persson currently serves as Associate Vice-President, Audit and Analysis and University Auditor, for the University of Alberta and is well versed in accounting and auditing functions in the public sector.
Citizen members of the Audit Committee can serve a maximum of six years.
