WAVE Committee Members

The Women's Advocacy Voice of Edmonton (WAVE) Committee provides Council with advice on affairs relevant to municipal jurisdiction.

WAVE will:

  • Advocate for women’s gender-based issue resolutions and opportunities related to City policies, priorities and decisions
  • Promote leadership development to empower Edmonton women to fully participate in civic life
  • Research and provide information and resources about women’s gender-based issues to Edmontonians

In February 2014, the Women's Advocacy Voice of Edmonton Committee Bylaw 16658 was approved by Edmonton City Council. There was a public and open recruitment process for Edmontonians interested in applying and being considered for this Council. More than 150 applications were screened and Council selected 15 members.

Request to Speak

We invite community members and groups to present at WAVE Committee meetings. Please complete the Request to Speak Form. For assistance with the form, please email Wave@edmonton.ca

Time

WAVE meets on the third Tuesday of the month from 5:30-7:30pm.

There are 5 Subcommittees of WAVE. The work of WAVE is done through these subcommittees and meetings can be watched on WAVE's livestream.

  1. Policy Subcommittee Meetings: 1st Thurs of the month from 6-7:30pm

  2. Projects Subcommittee Meetings: 2nd Tues of the month from 6-7:30pm

  3. Internal Subcommittee Meetings: 3rd Mon of the month from 6-7:30pm

  4. Reconciliation and Allyship Meetings: 4th Tues of the month from 6-7:30pm

  5. Social Media ad hoc subcommittee with WAVE's social media coordinator: Meetings: 2nd Wed of the month from 6-7pm
