What We Do
Monitors the safety of new construction, interior alteration and demolition sites, and oversees the fuel tank installation, maintenance and removal permit process. Technical Services also reviews high intensity residential fires (HIRF’s), development permits and construction site fire safety plans.
Liaises with other agencies to inspect buildings such as group homes, seniors residences, secondary suites, rooming houses, derelict buildings and multiple unit dwellings.
Performs fire code compliance and business license inspections throughout the city, calculates occupant loads and addresses complaints.
Liaise with Responsible Hospitality Edmonton, Public Service Compliance Team and Civic Events ensuring fire safety compliance for major city events.
Provides fire safety education to the citizens of Edmonton to prevent deaths, injuries and property loss caused by fire.
