Marketing Tips

Here are some other marketing tips for your local businesses:

  • Use #SupportLocalYEG marketing tools to identify your business as locally owned, and label Edmonton made or grown products.
  • Share a photo on your social media account showing some of the things you’re doing to keep your customers safe.
  • Use popular hashtags (examples: #SupportLocalYEG #shoplocalyeg #iheartyeg #yegbiz) on your social media posts.
  • Add your business listing and location on Google My Business to increase your visibility online. You can also add your business listing to Things That Are Open.
  • Encourage your customers to use the #SupportLocalYeg and #ShopLocalYeg hashtags to promote their favourite Edmonton businesses and services.
  • Ensure you’re active on social media. New photos and updates help keep your followers informed and interested in your business. Use the web banners we’ve provided in the toolkit.
  • Instagram stories are a creative way for your business to keep your customers up-to-date on what you’ve got going on. Learn how to create an Instagram Story. You can also post gift cards, food order, and fundraising stickers for your business on your Instagram Story.
  • Facebook has new features that allow you to add special content to your Page, such as displaying your menu, listing your services or showcasing your products with a shop section.
  • TikTok has released a downloadable Holiday Playbook for Small Businesses with advertising resources.
  • Retweet, repost and share everything satisfied customers say about your business on social media. Seeing what others think of your business encourages others to give you a try.
  • Respond to social media reviews online. This shows that you value your customers’ feedback, gives you an opportunity to highlight the positives and shows you care.
